TORQ-tuned Steve Hambling (Activ Folkestone/Trek) and Theresa Jordan (CC Luton) got their respective seasons off to a flying start last weekend at the second round of the Exodus Gorrick Spring Series.

Both Steve (Expert cat) and Theresa (Masters cat) won their events and there were also strong performances in the Expert category from Phil Rayner (Halfords Bike Hut Dev Squad) in 5th and Ciaran McAneny (Hitchin Nomads) in 9th.

I’d watched ‘Captain Correlli’s Mandolin’ for the 3rd time overawed by the timeless beauty of Kefalonia. So many of the rocky crags and dust tracks seemed ‘do–able’ as us Mountain Bikers tend to say (my admiration for beautiful places is somewhat influenced by their ’Mountain Bikeability’ I must confess). Anyway, I’ve bought the Captain Correlli video now. Nicholas Cage struggling to sound vaguely like an Italian creates a minor distraction, but nothing I’m not prepared to tolerate for a couple of hours of what is otherwise a splendid film.

Continuing on in our fast-food series, here’s fast-food number 2. No, we’re not talking about MacDonald’s or BK, there’s a different meaning here. For a food to be fast it must contain bags of carbohydrate with as little fat as possible. A moderate amount of protein wouldn’t go amiss either (this tends to happen as a matter of course), but basically the higher the carbs and lower the fat the better.
