    Recently it was the annual ITU world duathlon championships. To participate, you have to qualify and this is achieved in the months leading up to the race in large competitive domestic races. If you’re fast enough, you then earn the privilege of racing in GB kit, representing your age group and the opportunity to compete against the world’s best. The race changes venue every year, so we were lucky to have the most prestigious race on the duathlon calendar in Scotland - even better when Cat Morrison won the race on home soil.

    The TORQ Performance Mountain Bike team have yet again been a dominant force on the XC race scene this season and there’s little doubt that the equipment they’ve been using has been integral to their success…

    Here’s a little article about ‘The Bike’ itself and we’ll give you some insight into the other pieces of ‘non bike’ kit that the riders have become so dependent on this season in a couple of weeks time.

    Let me introduce our latest recruit to the triathlon team, Dave Mawhinney. I have raced alongside Dave since 2004 and we even did our first Ironman together in Nice, France. Whilst I like to race all triathlon distances, Dave has concentrated on Ironman racing and accomplished his long term goal of racing the world championships at the ironman distance in Hawaii last year.

    Chris Panayiotou races at elite level for Torq and has kindly prepared a couple of reports on his most competitive races to date; Windsor and London which are without doubt the biggest races in the domestic calendar and also the most competitive, attracting an international field. Chris has also been racing some lower key events that he has won, including the first ever Lakeside triathlon (only person to go sub hour) and the opening event of the 220 evening series at Dorney lake.

    Obviously we have to be careful not to appear sexist or anything, but Charlie from www.podiumkiss.com recently promoted TORQ amongst his other brands at www.brightonbigdog.com a couple of weeks back and stuck our TORQ shirt on his Podium Kiss girl…

    Martin has had a busy August, his latest race was the Aberfeldy triathlon. This race coupled as the Scottish Long distance triathlon championships. This race is a firm favourite on the Scottish calendar and has been run for 22 years. Indeed it attracts a broad range of athletes from local first timers, to the Scottish triathlon star Catriona Morrison, who predictably won the women’s event and finished second overall.
