Another two titles for Jan Birkmyre bring her tally to an incredible 49 titles won over the past 12 years…

On the final day of the championships Jan won the 2k pursuit in a time of 2:34.000 which is almost a second and a half faster than the current World Masters record of 2:35.477. Sadly records are not ratified at these championships, so she will have to do that again in October at the World Masters Track Championships for it to be recognised. Later on the same day, Jan won the points race in fine style by taking three of the four intermediate sprints to notch up 15 points, winning by 5 points in what was a fast and attacking race from the start. Jan told us “I am so grateful to Graham Bristow for giving us the opportunity to race a proper championships, this is always an important meeting and possibly the most fun of all the events I race too”.
