Ironman Gold!

Having turned pro just six months ago, Kimberley travelled to Buenos Aires for the first race of 2016 to claim Gold at the Iron man 70.3…

Kimberley chose this early season race to keep check on training and, being strong at flat Time Trials on the bike, the Argentine climb of 27m over 90km suiting her well. Up against Ariane Monticeli, Heather Lendway and Dede Griesbaue, all experienced and tough athletes, the race began with Kimberley chasing them in the swim.

A quick T1 put Kimberely in second place at the start of the bike race, taking the lead after 30km and cycling into the next transition almost four minutes ahead. This was followed by an exciting run, with Kimberley being chased by Dede Griesbauer all the way to the finish, where Kimberely snatched the tape with a nine second lead!

All of us here at TORQ are thrilled at Kimberley’s success and wish her the very best of luck for her next Ironman70.3, Pays d’Aix, France.
