    National 10 Mile TT

Mel has put in some stunning rides this year in the lead up to the National 10m TT, but sometimes things just don’t come right on the day …

In the eight years that have past since doing any serious time trialling, the competition has become fierce in women’s racing with PB’s tumbling down all aided by the introduction of power meters, faster equipment, better aerodynamics and more intelligent training.  Gone are the days where the top girls were doing 21 minute 10 mile TTs, they are now doing 19’s and 20’s.  This is fantastic news for women’s racing, however, for me, it meant I was going to have my work cut out to even make the top 10 in the Nationals these days…  and that was before I drove the course!

    Scottish Track Champs

After almost two months of missed training, following a stroke diagnosed in June, Louise dives in at the deep end with the Scottish Track Championships…

So after all my bad news and not being able to do any proper training for the best part of seven weeks, I made the ridiculous decision to ride the Scottish Track Champs.  I decided to use these Championships as training and set myself the goal of enjoying myself, rather than getting stressed out about my performance.

    Dundee Omnium 2015

Jan tells us about the racing in the fifth and penultimate round of the National Series, as it heads north over the border into Scotland…

If the British are preoccupied with the weather – and apparently 70 per cent of us check the weather forecast at least once a day – then British track cyclists are totally weather obsessed.  That obsession is never worse than when we are contemplating a trip from Worcestershire to Dundee for a round of the National Omnium Series.  The track in Dundee is so close to the coast, that the chances of meteorological misfortune are very high indeed and that would mean a lot of wasted time.
