It was a rather later than expected start to the 2016 season, with several races cancelled due to the weather, but Melanie finally got rolling with real style.
It was Mel’s first outing on the Wilier Twinblade and she had managed to talk team mates Janet Birkmyre and Madeline Moore into entering the West London CA 10TT, too. They arrived in a picturesque village in Oxfordshire on a lovely sunny day, but right on cue, a thunderstorm (with the addition of bolt lightening) arrived just in time for their warm up. Thankfully, the weather cleared minutes before Mel’s start, leaving some rapid conditions and she produced a 21:50, resulting in 1st Vet on Standard overall and 2nd Lady to Rachael Elliott, who broke the Ladies’ course record 33s ahead. Melanie commented, “The only downside is that I’m not sure my team mates will be that easily talked into riding a Time Trial with me again!”
