Heavy September showers affected the Vitruvian English Middle Distance Championship, where dark conditions and torrential rain lead to a challenging bike leg.

After a good swim, Dave left T1 to be greeted by terrible conditions on the bike. Despite the conditions, Dave continued to push on and produced a fast bike leg – meaning that by the time he got to T1, he was leading his Age Group.

Having not run for the last 3 weeks, due to a calf injury, Dave was hoping to be able to take it easy on the run. However, with the calf holding up well and the Zero point calf guards definitely helping, he managed to cross the finishing line in 1st place in his Age Group. Dave therefore retained his title and was crowned once again as the winner of the English Middle Distance Age Group Championships. Dave has now won his Age Group title at this event for 4 years on the trot and so enjoys a good Vitruvian trophy haul.
