Jan wins Silver at crucial Derny Champs “warm-up” race at the Olympic Velodrome...

The season ended with the World Masters for most track riders, but with the National Derny Champs rained off – twice – during the summer, the opportunity to race indoors at the Olympic Velodrome was not to be missed. Despite being in the middle of a big block of training, my pacer, Graham Bristow, decided to leave nothing to chance and we took a lap on the field in our heat, then really took the race on in the final. After 60 laps I was gutted to be pipped on the line, but being beaten by multiple World Masters Champion and record holder, Maddy Moore, is not too shameful. It was great experience for the big one on 29th November, and a great training effort too.
