Update: Business As Usual

Here is s a quick update to for you on the status of the TORQ business at these challenging times.

Although ‘Business as usual’ is perhaps stretching it a bit, we have made a number of changes to our business over the last couple of weeks to ensure the safety of our staff and also enable us to offer the service we need to at this time.

Holland & Barrett, a significant customer of ours has received guidance from DEFRA and the BRC (British Retail Consortium) that they have been nominated in the essential food, pharmacy and drugstore retail categories and they continue to work with BEIS and DEFRA to ensure that they are meeting the nation’s needs at this critical time. As we are supplier of Holland & Barrett, we have an obligation to remain open.

The government has also asked for cycle stores to remain open at this time, so we will continue to support demand through our distributor ZyroFisher.

Also, our GlucoRx TORQ Gel formulation is used as a hypoglycaemia treatment and on prescription through the NHS and we need to ensure that supply is maintained.

Regarding our Performance Nutrition products, since we are open, we are happy to supply our customers’ needs whilst stocks last. We are seeing many people continue with their regular exercise regimes, whilst others are being encouraged to exercise once per day by the government, so if you need us we are here for you. We do have products like our 60% Protein Pasta and 60% Protein Orzo which are essential food sources as well as our regular sports-specific products which have been popular recently and we will do everything we can to maintain stocks to fulfil demand.

Currently, those TORQ employees who can work from home are working from home and the main office is being scaled down to 2 key staff who both live together and travel in to work together negating any risk of spreading the virus. Our small production team work in a separate part of the business premises and we will shortly be furloughing these employees on a rotational basis to ensure that essential production is maintained whilst eliminating the risk of virus transmission between them.

We believe that we have put firm protocols in place, which support our valuable staff and our responsibilities as a business at this time.

We will keep you updated as things progress, but in the meantime please look after yourselves and those around you.
