    Reading GP

Maddy Moore rides sprint and endurance at the Reading GP …

On a very hot summers day Maddy took part in the Reading Grand Prix.  This incorporates a round of the National Sprinters League which Maddy decided to take part in too, just for the fun of it.  Maddy told us “weighing in at probably 20kg less than the majority of the field and one of only two ladies on the start sheet, this was never going to result in a win but it was absolutely brilliant fun”.

Sunday started with the pursuit, where once again the TORQ ladies set the four times of the day to clinch three gold medals and one silver.  Maddy wasn’t feeling the love on Sunday morning but pushed through to get a time of 2:31 and take the title.  After a long wait, a bit of sunbathing and a cheeky guarana TORQ gel there was the points race, where Maddy soloed off the front.

    Jan Leads National Series

Jan Birkmyre gets on the podium again to hold onto lead in National Omnium Series at midway point …

The latest round of the national series was held at Welwyn Garden City in glorious sunshine and Jan, who has won the first two rounds of this series, showed great consistency across the first three events.  However, the pursuit did not go to plan and she slipped two points behind the leaders going into the final event, the points race, and was unable to improve on this placing but still retains the lead in the overall series standings.  Jan said “I suffered horribly in the heat and got the pacing all wrong in the pursuit, it put me on the back foot going into the points race and I never regained the lead.  It is frustrating but that is the nature of a series, it rewards the most consistent rider across the season and anyone can have a bad day”.
