Elite Duathlon Championships 25th March 2012

Nick Shasha got an invite to this exclusive elite race and this is what he had to say. 

Two of the team were racing the popular and competitive Chirk Triathlon last weekend. 

TORQ’s super-fast duathlete has been doing some speed work prior to European Duathlon Championships. 

Ian shows that he is a class act by completely dominating the event, leading from the gun to tape…

Having raced 3 times already this year on the Duathlon circuit, I decided to enter the sprint event as my final lung busting Duathlon prior to the start of the Triathlon season. 

Danielle Stewart has been recognised by British Triathlon, through her previous season’s results and has been added to the elite squad (11 in total). 

A duathlon consists of a run, bike, run. 

Nick demonstrates his awesome running speed at the TCR 10k, with lots of TORQ sponsors watching he was under a little pressure but didn’t show any nerves and appeared to glide over the course in an effortless style (a true sign of a talented runner). 

Louise gets off to a great start for TORQ in her first duathlon of the year. 

Our latest recruit; Ian Roberts, started his racing campaign for the TORQ Triathlon team by winning the Althorp duathlon. 

Nick continues his racing throughout the winter, ready for the duathlon season, but alas with snow disruption, he’s had to settle for running events…

With my last two duathlons cancelled due to snow, running has dominated procedings here. 

After a very successful 2011 TORQ triathlete Louise Bardsley is credited with ‘most improved athlete’ at the Reading Sports Persoanlity of the Year awards. 

Ian is our final new recruit to welcome to the triathlon team.
